A Regional Economy That Works for Everyone
Australia’s regions are the heart and soul of this nation. But for too long, we’ve been forgotten. It’s time to put regional Australia first. We need a strong, sustainable economy that supports jobs, businesses, and families. I’m not here to make empty promises. I’m here to take real action to rebuild and reinvigorate our local economies.
Suzie’s Plan for a Strong and Stable Economy
-
Supporting Regional Infrastructure Development
Infrastructure is the backbone of any economy, and right now, our regions are struggling with outdated and underfunded infrastructure. From roads to rail, broadband to hospitals, we need serious investment in regional infrastructure. I’ll fight to expand public transport, build better roads, and improve access to high-speed internet so our local businesses can thrive and our communities are better connected. Regional Australia deserves the same opportunities as the major cities. -
Creating Local Jobs & Supporting Small Business
The jobs of the future need to be created locally, and it’s about time the government supported the small businesses that are the backbone of our communities. I’ll work to reduce red tape, provide tax incentives for regional businesses, and create more opportunities for apprenticeships and training programs, especially for young people. When our local businesses thrive, so do our families and communities. This isn’t about corporate handouts—it’s about putting support where it matters: in the hands of the people who are building our local economies. -
Encouraging Sustainable Industries
We need to future-proof our economy by investing in industries that will last. From renewable energy to sustainable agriculture and cutting-edge technology, regional Australia can lead the way in building a strong, green economy. I’ll fight to attract investment and ensure that our regions benefit from emerging industries while continuing to support farmers and protect prime agricultural land from CSG mining. -
Regional Health & Education
A strong economy isn’t just about jobs, it’s about people. Access to healthcare and education shouldn’t depend on your postcode. I’ll push for more funding for regional hospitals, reduce waitlists for healthcare services, and increase investment in regional schools so our kids have the best opportunities to succeed. When we invest in health and education, we invest in our workforce, our communities, and our future. -
Supporting Small Businesses & Tax Reform
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, yet they’re facing more challenges than ever. I’ll work to cut red tape, offer targeted tax relief, and provide more direct support to help small businesses grow and create local jobs.
At the same time, we need a fairer tax system, one that works for everyone, not just the wealthiest Australians and big corporations. I’ll fight to close tax loopholes, ensure the biggest businesses pay their fair share, and make sure everyday hardworking Australians aren’t left picking up the slack. This isn’t about penalising success. It’s about fairness and accountability. -
Affordable Housing in the Regions
It’s impossible to rebuild Groom’s economy if people can’t afford to live here. Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing our region, and it’s time we address it head-on. I’ll fight to ensure that 30% of federal funding for housing is committed to regional Australia, reflecting the 30% of Australians who call the region home. But it’s not just about funding, it’s about solutions. I’ll push for private, public partnerships to invest in affordable housing, making sure locals aren’t priced out of their own communities. -
Enhancing Regional Tourism & Agriculture
Our regions are home to some of Australia’s most beautiful landscapes and world class agricultural industries. I’ll work to expand regional tourism, support local businesses, and ensure our farmers are getting a fair price for their produce. By investing in regional tourism and agriculture, we’ll drive economic growth and create more local jobs. -
Attracting Investment & Supporting Innovation
To grow our regional economy, we need to bring investment in—both local and international. I’ll work to attract new businesses to regional Australia, incentivise start-ups, and push for federal investment in innovation hubs. This isn’t about waiting for opportunities to come to us; it’s about actively creating the right conditions for growth through grants, tax incentives, and skills development programs. -
Fighting for Fair Regional Representation
Canberra has been dominated by the big parties for too long. It’s time for real regional voices to stand up and demand more for the people who live outside the major cities. I’ll be your voice in Parliament, fighting for policies that work for you—not just for corporate donors or party bosses.
What I Stand For
A strong and sustainable economy is one that works for all Australians, no matter where they live. It’s about ensuring that every region has the opportunity to thrive and grow. I’m committed to rebuilding our local economies by focusing on sustainable industries, better infrastructure, and more jobs—and I won’t stop fighting until our communities are given the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.
Together, we can build a brighter future for regional Australia—one that’s built on solid foundations, innovative industries, and strong communities. We can create an economy that doesn’t just survive, but thrives, for generations to come. Let’s put regional Australia first and get things done!
